2024 KISSIN' COUSINS
51% Grenache Blanc, 49% Viognier
Tasting Notes: Aged in 24% new French oak, the 2024 Kissin' Cousins offers a refined and expressive nose of ripe honeydew, candied citrus, lychee, and jasmine. Incredibly balanced acidity pairs with a mildly rich texture, offering layers of soft minerality, lemon custard, and ginger.
Winemaking Notes: The Grenache Blanc and Viognier for this blend were harvested between September 2nd and 10th, with the Grenache Blanc ranging from 22–23° Brix and the Viognier at 24.6° Brix. To enhance complexity and mouthfeel, three different yeasts were selected for fermentation, each chosen for their compatibility with bâtonnage. The Grenache Blanc was fermented in 75-gallon stainless steel barrels, while the Viognier fermented in a small stainless steel tank and one new 400L French oak barrel. Following fermentation, bâtonnage was performed weekly on each vessel for three months. In early January, the wines were blended and returned to a mix of new and used French oak and stainless steel barrels to continue aging until bottling.
Lisa Perrotti-Brown, Master of The Wine Palate says, "The 2024 Kissin' Cousins is composed of 51% Grenache Blanc and 49% Viognier. It was aged for 7 months in French oak, 24% new, with a small portion aged in stainless steel. Slowly it emerges from the glass with delicate scents of crunchy pears, yellow apples, and wet pebbles, plus underlying notes of baking bread and sea spray. The medium- to full-bodied palate is satiny and refreshing with soft-spoken orchard fruit flavors and a chalky finish." 92 Points
