2017 COHORT
58% Petite Sirah, 28% Syrah, 14% Mourvèdre

2017 COHORT

Wine critic, Jeb Dunnuck says, “Petite Sirah-dominated (there's 28% Syrah and 14% Mourvèdre), the 2017 Cohort doesn’t lack for color. Inky purple/blue-hued, it gives up wonderful notes of blueberries, candle wax, white flowers, and ground pepper. Another power-packed, opulent wine (from Caliza) that stays balanced and is a joy to drink, it would make one hell of a steakhouse red." 94 Points

Wine critic, Owen Bargreen says, "This wine is barrel-aged for eighteen months in 45% new French oak but then spent 1.5 years in the bottle before release. A blend of 58% Petite Syrah with smaller parts Syrah and Mourvedre, this 100% estate wine unveils blueberry pie with milk chocolate and dried herbs, and shades of beef drippings. The palate is deeply concentrated but shows bright acidity. Drink 2022-2034"- 94 pts

Wine critic, Josh Reynolds of Vinous says, "Glass-staining ruby. Smokey dark fruit and licorice aromas pick up hints of cracked pepper and earth with air. Concentrated dark and bitter cherry flavors turn livelier through the back half. Shows youthfully brooding character and finishes very long and taut, with mounting tannins and persistent cherry and spice notes. This one deserves some paticence. Drink 2024 - 2031" - 90 pts

No lack of color here! This ruby-hued purple monster is somewhat restrained in what was a cooler vintage. Notes of blueberry cobbler, stewed cherries, and dark chocolate pummel the front of the palate while playful yet grippy tannins leave your mouth with notes of vanilla, clove, and white pepper. Loads of red fruit make this the perfect pairing to duck breasts with a cherry balsamic glaze or an herb-crusted pork tenderloin.
